Why we were created

Before you read

The Qur'an gives a direct answer to life's biggest question: people were created to worship Allah. Worship ('ibadah) is wider than ritual: honest work, kindness and caring for family all count when done for Allah. Al-Mulk adds that life and death are a test of who does best.

51:56I did not create the Jinns and the human beings except for the purpose that they should worship Me.

51:57I do not want any sustenance from them, nor do I want them to feed Me.

51:58In fact, Allah is the All-Sustainer, Possessor of power, the Strong.
